It is important for you to able to analyze a correlational study and explain how it differs from a cause-and-effect outcome.
Using the same scenario you used in Part I and II of this project, you will now present your findings to your company or clinic staff, including CEOs (think about your audience). **Please ensure you scroll ALL the way down to view ALL of the instructions for this final project. You are COMBINING all your parts into ONE final presentation that includes a new section on correlation too! You are submitting ONE final PowerPoint presentation that includes the information from Part A in addition to the information in Part B. Your final presentation should include your work from Parts 1, 2 and Part A below, on correlation.
Part A:
Provide a response to the following prompts.
Imagine your research team has been tasked with finding the correlation of 2 variables from your scenario. The data below includes 4 research participants’ data for variable 1 (high scores mean better of variable 1) and data for variable 2 (high scores mean more of the variable). The scores are as follows:
Person
Variable 1
Variable 2
1
1
10
2
1
8
3
2
4
4
4
-2
Describe the process your research team would go through by completing the following:
Create a scatter diagram of the scores.
Describe in words the general pattern of correlation, if any.
Figure the correlation coefficient.
Explain the logic of what you have done, writing as if you are speaking to someone who has never heard of correlation (but who does understand the mean, standard deviation, Z scores, and hypothesis testing).
Provide 3 logically possible directions of causality, indicating for each direction whether it is a reasonable explanation for the correlation based on the variables involved. Explain your answer.
Part B:
Assume your research is complete and you have written your research article. Now it’s time to make a public presentation for your company/clinic.
Consider your audience and the language you will need to use to make this presentation clear for all participants.
Create a 10- to 12-slide Microsoft PowerPoint presentation (cover slides and references do not count in this number) using the information you gathered and submitted in Parts I and II and including your information you obtained from Part A above.
Include the following in your presentation:
Describe the problem and provide some brief background information about the situation.
Explain the research hypothesis.
Describe your sample and your sampling method.
Explain the 4 steps of the research process you followed.
Define the critical value and the test statistic your analysis provided.
Include your scatterplot and correlation findings from Part A, including your answers to all the questions from Part A.
Provide the main finding of the study. What did you prove or fail to prove?
Provide recommendations based on your findings.
Each slide must have 4 to 5 bullet points with 4 to 5 words for each point plus speaker notes. The bulk of your explanation will go in the speaker notes. This is where you will write and put what you would say when giving this presentation to your audience. This is an academic presentation; therefore, keep the bells and whistles to a minimum and make this a clean, professional-looking presentation. You should use a professional design template. It is a visual presentation, so tasteful and related images are expected and appropriate.
Format any citations in your presentation according to APA 7th edition guidelines. Do not use bullet points for your references; use proper hanging indents and spacing. You may use as many reference slides as you need since they are not part of the content total. Also, if photos are used, they need to be referenced according to APA guidelines.

This paper is a further analysis of the policy you chose for your first paper. This paper will address the allocations, provisions, service delivery, and financing and funding of your policy. You will also deepen your analysis of the cores values of the policy and evaluate well it advances racial and gender equity, human rights, social justice, and distributes resources (i.e., equality, equity, adequacy, efficiency). Begin with an introductory paragraph that introduces and summarizes your policy. It should be followed by a discussion of the following using these headings:
1.Policy Analysis
a. Allocations and Provisions Who benefits? Using data, provide a demographic profile of groups affected by this policy (e.g., who is eligible for benefits, who actually receives the benefits). What types of disparities exist? How are groups differentially affected by this policy based on racial/ethnic background, gender, class, and other differences? Provisions: Describe the benefits. What is the form of the benefit? Do these provisions consist of cash, vouchers, services, or “intangibles” such as power or opportunities? How is it distributed? What eligibility requirements are attached to these provisions?
b. Service Delivery: How is the policy implemented? How are the benefits delivered? What level of government or private institutions are involved? Consider the role that social workers or other specialized professionals may play in implementing the policy.
d. Financing and Funding: Briefly discuss the financing of this policy. How is the program financed? Is the funding adequate or do other issues exist regarding funding?
2. Evaluation
This section assesses the strengths, weaknesses and limitations of the policy using evidence from available research, evaluations, and policy reports and analyses.
a. Assess the strengths, weaknesses, and limitations of the policy, including the impact of the policy on vulnerable groups in society (e.g., people of color, people who are poor, women, old people, children, LGBTQ persons) using evidence from available research, evaluations, and policy analyses. Consider unintended consequences, gaps in services, barriers, or a lack of adequate funding?
b. Overall, how does this policy achieve its goals? How well does the policy meet its stated goals and the needs of the client system? How effectively does it advance social justice, human rights, racial and gender equity, equality, adequacy, and distribute resources?
3. Recommendations
a. Make one or two recommendations for policy changes and provide a rationale. Be sure that your recommendations are clearly connected to what you have identified earlier in your assessment as a limitation or in need of improvement. Recommendations may include alternative approaches that have been piloted in the US pr or when relevant, the policies or models of other nations.
The paper should include 10 or more references in current APA style. At least five of the references must be scholarly journal articles, book chapters or policy reports that have not been provided through this course-At least 5 references that are not required readings for the course. In addition, use appropriate Internet resources (e.g., government documents, research institutes). Many excellent resources are listed in this syllabus. Length-8-10 pages excluding the title page
