In Module 02, we focused on a basic assessment of verbal and non-verbal communication. Both are important when a client is interacting with the Human Services Professional and also affect how the Human Services Professional presents him or herself to clients. For the Module 03 Course Project, you will continue to use the client that you chose in Module 01. The assignment for Module 03 is two-fold:
Part I: Describe how you would set up the environmental setting (office setting or a comfortable place for the client). The environment needs to allow the client to feel supported. The set-up of the environment should also ensure that the client can to fully participate in professional interactions to form the helping relationship.
Part II: Open-ended questions allow for clients to elaborate, while close-ended questions are questions that receive a simple one or two-word response. Based upon the scenario for the client that you have chosen, develop five open-ended and five close-ended interview questions that support finding out more information relative to the client’s history and current situation(s).
