DBA Program Reflection
My primary aspiration as a DBA scholar is to offer an immense contribution to the business world by offering new knowledge that would have immediate solutions to real-world problems. I strive to apply contemporary ideas and expertise to current business challenges in my role as a DBA practitioner. I would achieve this by ensuring that the theories learned and knowledge gained during the research has been applied in my professional practice to increase efficiency and ability to find solutions to critical problems.
DBA would provide me the knowledge and abilities to help firms with their challenging business issues. DBA entails studying business theory and using it to address practical issues. Nonetheless, there are various high-level skills that DBAs must possess to enable them to apply knowledge and research in a manner that informs solutions and addresses existing problems in multiple professions. Some of these skills include focus, problem-solving, creative thinking, analytical skills, adaptability, and flexibility. These skills play an essential role in problem-solving as well as applying theories and knowledge to real-world problems within organizations. For instance, analytical skills will ensure that the DBAs analyze situations and ascribe desired theories to those problems.
Ph.D. dissertations are different from doctoral capstones in various ways. A dissertation involves a search for new information meant to address an issue in the physical realm and apply it to the field (Dunleavy, 2017). On the other hand, a doctorate capstone’s goal is to carry out additional research or use it to provide an instant resolution to a problem in the context of the real world. For example, a project would aim at developing an introductory online navigation course that improves student experiences (Bess, 2018).Additionally, the project deliverables of dissertations and capstone projects vary. For instance, the project variables for a capstone project include a paper, product, and portfolio while the project variables for a dissertation is the dissertation. Based on my view of the assignments of this course, key skills that would be drawn over the next 10 weeks include curiosity, analytical skills, dedication, time management, and critical thinking.
